Wrestling With God

I have been wrestling with the Lord in my prayer time. I am struggling with what to pray, how to pray, and also wondering if prayer will even make a difference in some of the world issues.

I know God hears and answers our prayers and I believe He can do anything however, some things that are happening may just be part of God’s plan.

Jesus, in You I trust.

I want to pray fervently and with direction and passion but I get overwhelmed. I lose my focus when I pray because there are so many troubles. Not only is there multiple personal, family and friends, who are in dire need but the entire world seems to be falling apart. The future seems ominous and that intimidates me and my quiet time. I need to rest in God’s plans and seek His will.

The closer I walk with Him in prayer and quiet time the stronger I will be in resisting the assaults of fear, anxiety, worry, and depression. God’s Word soothes my spirit, so I am challenging myself to diligently memorize verses. I want to hide the Word in my heart, mind and spirit,so I can recollect the comforting scriptures when I need them.

Jesus, Your will be done.

We are called to pray for one another, world events and pursue peace, but it is crucial to recognize what we can change and what we cannot; what God will do and what He will allow to happen. He sees the entire picture and knows what is to come. He is Sovereign!

Since the Lord is directing our steps, why try to understand everything that happens along the way.

Jesus, You are faithful.

I get so involved emotionally with people who are suffering that my heart breaks when I pray.

I am learning that fretting and worrying about things that are beyond my control only drains my energy and causes me despair.

One of my friends, reminded me that there will always be trials and tribulations, always has been from the beginning of time and always will be.

God is with us, so we do have the power to overcome intimidation and fear when the enemy tries to invade our minds and hearts. Greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world.

As long as we keep God first in or lives and cling to Him we can have perfect peace.

Jesus, You are able.

God will always provide for me, He is my Jehovah Jireh.

He is my shelter and fortress in times of trouble and will deliver me out of all of my afflictions.

He has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. So pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the spirit. Do not despise prophesies.

Jesus, in You I rest.

We can question God and wrestle with Him in our prayer time or we can rest and trust and have faith in HIm and His loving care and surrender to His will.
