The Lettuce Scriptures

I believe the Bible is explicit, in so many verses, on the subject of fellowship with one another.

Sharing our lives with God and others is why we are here on planet earth. We are not to isolate and with draw, but to come together to grow together, to experience life together, to worship together, to pray together and to care for each other -together. God is with us constantly, no matter where we are or what we are going through.

He does not want us to be alone even when we are alone. My friend Linda lives by herself but says, she never feels lonely because she knows that God is always with her.

God created Adam and Eve for His fellowship and because He knew, it was not good for man to be alone. His desire is that we share our lives with Him and others.

I believe I could fill an entire book just on the scriptures pertaining to doing life with others and it’s importance.

But today, I just want to write about what I cal,l the “Lettuce” verses; or as the Bible says the “Let us” scriptures.

I have been wanting to delve into these verses ever since I started reading the bible and I like to highlight those two words when I see them. It makes me chuckle! :) :) :)

Pastor Dale Locke, from Community of Hope, read a scripture with the words “let us” in it this past Sunday, so I thought; that will be my next blog! I’m not going to list all of the verses but just a few. It isn’t a very profound blog on my part but I’m not a very profound kind of gal. However, the scriptures are life changing and profound enough for themselves

God started off with the {lettuce/let us} scriptures when He said to His Son and the Holy spirit-

Let us make man in our image...Genesis 1:26

Come, let us praise the Lord! Let us sing for joy to God, who protects us! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and sing joyful songs of praise. Psalm 95:1-2

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our God our maker. Psalm 95:6

The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. Psalm 118:24

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Psalm 122:1

So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 1 Thess 5:6

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in times of need. Hebrews 4:16

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith...

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He Is faithful that promised:)

Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and to good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another

Hebrews 10:22-25

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. 1 John 4:7

I am faithfully dedicated to being in a small group and have been involved in Bible studies, either as a participant or as a leader for many years. I am convinced that being in a small group has been a vital ingredient to my Christian maturity, as well as my spiritual, mental, psychological, emotional, social and physical well being. I am so thankful for all the numerous amazing women God has brought into my circle of friends and into my home, while we engage in life together with the Lord.

I hope you start noticing all of the let us verses in your bible and take heed to God’s message for you.

Don’t be a single lettuce leaf out there all alone; join with others and make a delicious, healthy, appetizing, colorful, nourishing, wholesome and refreshing combination salad.
