Stop Racing Around

I don’t like to admit this but I can be an impatient, crabby and irritable person at times; so much to do and so little time to do it. My mother is 97 year old and is a slow mover and I am just the opposite. I seem to struggle to get us both ready for outings on time, without me getting annoyed. Then I have to repent. I try not to get snappy and cranky, but fail often.

Not very Christian of me, is it?

So the other day, I woke up and decided that I was going to quit racing around and slow my act down. I planned to imitate Jesus and the actor that plays Jesus in the Chosen series. That series started a transformation within me that I pray I will continue.

"What would Jesus do?” became my mantra. I prayed and asked God to keep a gaurd over my mouth, mood and attitude and help me to slow down, be kind, calm and sweet. I tried to walk slower, think before I speak which helped me maintain a calm spirit all day. When I felt myself start to get irritated, I would take a deep breath and stop to ask myself, “What would Jesus do?” What would He say and how would His tone sound? Those questions changed my mind set and kept me on point. My heart rate, blood pressure, spirit, and nerves thanked me for the day of tranquility. I even slept peacefully that night. I did well that day and with God’s help I will continue to do so.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul...Ps. 23;2

This is the atmosphere where I would love to reside permanently. After all, I don’t have to win the race, I just need to finish it.

Life is too short to be in a rush all the time.

People are too precious to be rude to, irrtable or impatient with.

Family memebers are forever and they are to be cherished.

God doesn’t get irritated with me when I mess up, move to slow, or don't understand something He is saying to me. He is always gentle, kind, forgiving and loving. He speaks life into my spirit. I want people to see and hear Jesus when they see and hear me.
