Stop, Look, Listen and Take Time to Smell the Roses!!!

Updated: Jun 6, 2021

After work, I enjoy going to Our lady Queen of the Apostles church to pray; meditate on God’s goodness and walk. When I went this week the day was perfect. The surroundings offered peace and a little touch of heaven.

It was a time for me to unwind and disconnect from life’s trials. A time

to connect with nature and God.

The sky was baby blue with puffy marshmallow clouds.

The bells toll every hour on the hour.

There was an occasional cool breeze.

The wind was whipping the branches

to and fro, as if they were clapping hands.

A gusty handful of air shoved me forward as I walked.

The colors of green were too numerous to count.The dried leaves made a crackling sound as they hit the pavement.

Diverse birds were singing/screeching as they hid in the trees.

The sound of airplanes resonated over head.

Cars whizzed past on the road near by.

The church air conditioner created a soothing hum.

All these sounds orchestrated a symphony for me to enjoy as I walked and worshipped the Lord.

I was enjoying a little bit of heaven right here in the church parking lot.

I feel God’s presence in nature.

These walks are like taking a "vacation nature break.”

Many people bike, walk or run for exercise but their focus is on obtaining that specific goal. Hopefully, they are also connecting with God to refresh their inner man as well.

I tend to rush around in a frenzy;

trying to accomplish all the activities on my extensive to do list.

Irritation, impatience and aggravation rears its ugly head when I am hurried.

I loose my temper and my peace and calm spirit is hurled out the door

My goal is to maintain serenity and to be more like Jesus and less like me;

to show God’s love no matter what is going on around me.

I am refreshed when I slow down and take time to enjoy this world and listen to God speak.

Don’t be so busy and preoccupied that you miss all the wonders of nature around you.

Enjoy the colors, sounds, and feelings that arise as you set aside time to experience

God’s gift - earth’s beauty.

Stop, look, listen and take time to smell the roses.

Matt. 11:28
