God is always at work around us and He invites us to join Him in what He is doing.
(from Experiencing God bible study)
I am daily feeding my inner man to produce the spiritually nutritious fruits of the spirit in my life.
I enjoy blessing others and looking for ways to bring some light into the lives of those I encounter. Sharing God’s message of love and demonstrating simple acts of kindness excites me and fills my heart with joy.
Thinking of others and showing respect and interest in them is more important than one might think. It could change a person’s perspective about life, Christians and to give someone hope.
Last Saturday, my bible study friends and I went out for Thai food to celebrate 3 of our birthdays.
We were seated right behind a table of 5 elderly adults.
We hadn’t all been together, in person for a very long time; so we were very excited. We were talking and laughing heartily and loudly, all at the same time.
I noticed this gentleman at the table behind us turning around several times and looking at us. Then his wife did the same. I realized that we were bothering them. I got up and apologized for the robust noise coming from our party and asked if we were too loud. The man told me, he was “ok, because he took his hearing aids out" and his wife said, “a little bit” as she brought her hands up to cover her ears. I explained why we were there and the reason for our behavior and then told them we were going to try to move. The woman told me not to move and they were just a "bunch of old grouchy people", but I insisted, and we moved down to the next two tables to the left of them.
The man and woman were so moved by this simple act of kindness and repeatedly, said so. The gentleman said in all of his 86 years, no one has ever done anything that nice for him before.
I told him that we were Christ followers and enjoyed sharing the love and message of Jesus with others. As their group left, they all walked past our table and wished us a "Happy Birthday!"
Earlier that morning my daughter, and my son in law and I attended the make a meal event at Christ Fellowship. God had a plan that day and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Yeh, right!!
{There are no coincidences, when you are a child of God only "God incidences". He is always at work and He invites us to join Him in His plans.}
I was measuring the bags of food but when a lady who was sealing the bags had to leave I was asked to move to resume her job. When I repositioned myself, I was standing across from a young boy, named Devin. We started up a conversation that lasted to the end of hour shift.
We had more than a simple conversation. We had made a God ordained connection.
I was so excited when I left the church that day. I am always amazed, when God is moving in a person's life or a situation and He allows us to be a part of His plans. We may not know or see the results of our encounter but we can plant the seeds that God has prepared for us to do.
As Christians, we should always be prepared to share his message, kindness and love with all we encounter and at any time.
When anyone asks you to speak of your hope, be ready...Yet do it with respectful humility.
1 Peter 3:15,16
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:2
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! Hebrews 13:2
Keep your eyes, ears and heart open to what the Lord is doing around you and how He is working and join Him. We need to be willing, ready, observant and obedient to His leadings.
