Faith Farm is a "church with a heart for the hurting". It is a faith-based, free, 10 month residential drug and alcohol recovery program for men and women. Faith farm is financially supported by donations and the sales from the thrift store. Each resident receives counseling and spiritual guidance, and works in some capacity on the farm.
These people come to faith farm broken, hurting and in desperate need for mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, awakening and restoration. For some, faith farm is their last and possibly only hope. The farm offers them that hope; safety, kindness, love, education and a family. Each lady has their own baggage that they drag in with them. Each one has their own private pain from the past that haunts and almost cripples them.
I have been privileged to meet and minister to many of the residing women over the last 6 years at faith farm. My bible study groups support this outreach in prayer and donations as needed. We meet monthly with the women to encourage, inspire, and uplift them as well as revealing God's love to them. We provide a little food for their bodies and spiritual food for their souls.
I enjoy meeting and sharing the love of God with these women. I want them to know they are not alone. There are others who don’t even know them, who are praying for them and care for them. I am passionate about this ministry because at one point in my life, I could have been in their shoes. However, the God I prayed to and knew, as a Catholic little girl, was always with me, even though, I strayed from Him. In my heart, God was always present; waiting patiently for me, protecting me from any harm and from myself. What I was seeking in the world was what I already had hidden deep inside me. I finally realized what I was missing was a personal relationship with Jesus, who is the One who loves me most and has all the answers to all my questions. He lifted me out of my pit.
Not everyone who enters faith farm finishes the program. Not all of them graduate and maintain their sobriety for the rest of their lives. Not all of them develop a lasting relationship
with God, but for those who do; I want to give them praise for a job well done. Fighting against addiction is a daily battle, one that is fought second, by second and it can’t be done alone. It takes a community of support and one on one assistance, but God is the only one that will be with these recovering soldiers each breath and each step they take.
You can be a support for these men and women by donating household items, finances, old cars, furniture, and clothing. However, what they need most of all is prayer, for all those in recovery, the staff at faith farm and all the thousands of others who are struggling in this area and never seek help.
