I watch football with my husband and understand most of what is going on, but I don’t know all of the rules. However, I am fasinated with the excitement and all the activity involved with the event but most of all, the players extraordinary, acrobatic, ballerina like moves.
They amaze me with their strength, stamina, fortitude, energy and their determination!
The players get knocked down and
most of the time jump right back up.
They get tackled, fly in the air,
twist around like a top and keep on running.
They give 110% of their entire being to the game.
They perform in almost all weather situations as well as during their own impaired physical conditions.
They work and function as a joint unit;
all striving for one goal; to win the game;
to beat the other team; to be number one.
They are passionate and driven.
I want to have the character of a dedicated football player in my relationship with the Lord and my Christian walk.
I want to pick myself up after being tackled by some of life’s tragedies and continue to run hard after the goal to win the prize God has for me.
Giving God 100% of my heart, talents, treasures, time and skills is not effortless. It is something I diligently need to work on moment by moment.
There are situations in my life like the body aches and pains, emotional stress, hardships, job, family, friends, financial issues, and my own insecurities or absence of passion that hinders me.
When life knocks me down, my strength and revitalization comes from seeking God, praying and staying connected with my team of girls to support me. They are the ones who metaphorically, lift me on their shoulders to propell me forwrd and who pray to keep me “lit” or on fire in my pursuit of being on my best game.
We pray for each other when difficulties knock us down and we praise together when one of us makes our own personal touchdown.
Having a defensive team who is continually ready to fight our enemies in spiritual warfare and to run the offensive plays with us is vital.
We are not meant to run the field on our own without our defensive line men.
We need to work and function, as well as we can, as a team to reach the end zone victoriously and to make the eternal touchdowns. We should continually strive to be number one in our walk with the Lord.
I am thankful that I have teams of people to hold me accountable.
Do you?
